Attempt Made On Sheriff's Life

CCTV footage caught the explosion as the armored door to the apartment was wrenched from its hinges.

From Emissary Reports

EAVESDOWN DOCKS, Persephone - This evening an attempt was made on the life of newly appointed Sheriff, Iskrin Nightfire, on only his second day on the job. The fire bomb planted in the Sheriff's apartment had been rigged to a motion detector that was prematurely activated by the Sheriff's cat - which itself had been missing for some days. The Sheriff himself was unharmed and, though saddened by the lost of his pet, is undeterred in his fight to clean up Eavesdown Docks.

"They can try as often as they like, but I'm not going to stop." He declared defiantly. "I'll get every last sumbitch in this town who thinks it's OK to grow fat off the misery of others."

The investigation into the bombing is being handled by the UAP barracks owing to the Sheriff's obvious conflict of interest. The structural damage to the apartment was minimal and the Sheriff's Offices below were entirely unharmed.

"It looks like a cascade plasma device - incinerates tissue but does little other damage," commented Lieutenant Hakser from the UAP team. "I'd be surprised if it was built in the Docks. Likely brought in from Mosely City or Shin-Shi."
